We continue to engage in scientific research in the hope of developing new compounds which will enhance the treatment of skin conditions, and we have been focusing our efforts on improving the hydration of the skin for nearly eight decades. Our History
The F.C. Sturtevant Company was founded in 1871 by Francis Crayton Sturtevant, a Civil War medic who was profoundly affected by the number of deaths to soldiers, civilians and animals from rampant bacterial infection caused after surgery. As letters he wrote home to his mother stated, if he survived the war himself, he would return home to develop a medicine that would cure infection. Fortunately, he did return home, where he developed the first antiseptic product to battle “bad” bacteria.

Columbia Healing Powder, as it was called then, was the first medicated powder created to cure skin irritations and infections while also protecting skin and keeping it healthy.
What started 150 years ago as a fight against harmful bacteria has evolved, through intense research and the expertise of the best medical minds in the field, into our discovery of helpful bacteria in the form of topical probiotics, for skin health and wellness.
The discovery? The first natural, topical, probiotic skincare. Our formula is comprised of probiotics (good bacteria), plant stem cells and peptides (amino acids), uniquely combined to enhance the skin’s natural ability to renew itself.
